"From the cute little story to the fun illustrated animals this book was very delightful to read. From the beginning Peck the little Lovebird is on the hunt for love. With the help from a sea eagle, zebra, lion and a monkey Peck travels from Australia to Madagascar then to Africa in search for love. Not to give away the end but there are some good lessons weaved into the story. How helping friends can be and most times the first time you meet mates (like 2 sisters) it is not a love match but just keep trying.

I would read this book over and over again to a child. They would love the pictures and the story. My 5th grade daughter read this book out loud and had no trouble with the words and even giggled at the sounds so of them made. Her favorite picture was of the elephant and mine was the last page with all the animals in heart poses. She enjoyed reading it and so did I."

• What a sweet story! All three of my children found something different that they loved about this book. My 11 year old son loved the fact that this tiny bird made new friends and traveled the world to find love in a bird just like him. My 9 year old daughter loved each new character that Peck met. She stated that it was a great lesson for her little brother on what types of animals lived in certain areas of the world. She also loved the mini songs that Peck sang throughout the book. My 5 month old so. Was enamored with the bright colors in the book. He would actually reach out and try to pet Peck. Overall, this was a very family friendly and sweet book. I loved each aspect that my children found great as well as the fact that the author describes the “love” that is found as a great friendship. This book is a quick but meaningful read for young children and the entire family. The illustrations really pull the whole book together! I am excited to see that Peck has other stories as well. This family will definitely love following Peck on his many adventures.
• What a great children's story with a message about the importance of determination and never giving up. Even though Peck made many great friends who were willing to go out of their way to help him, Peck continued to push towards his ultimate goal and never got discouraged. In addition to the wonderful story about determination and maintaining your goals, the story of friendship and not judging a book by its cover can be seen allowing Peck to learn through his travels. Peck knew the importance of not giving up and continuing to try to find love which is a wonderful message for all children. Also, the amazing illustrations provided a wonderful way to give young readers such a deep message in a format that relates to them.

• This is an animal picture book for young children. Peck is a little lovebird who lives in Australia. He’s lonely there so he travels to Africa to find love. The delightful book cover shows a red heart the middle of the African continent. His flight is provided by his sea eagle friend, Henry. Peck encounters many animals during his travels who are kind and help him on his journey. He falls in love with Piper, whom he meets with the lovebirds there, and they chirp love songs together. The story addresses friendships and how important these relationships are to find love. The story is also a lesson about perseverance. Excellent illustrations supplement his travels. This is a well-developed children’s story that takes the reader along on Peck’s adventures. Two other Peck books include Peck-A Little Lovebird Takes Flight and Peck A Lonely Little Lovebird Down Under.
• A sweet story for little ones, Peck is a lovebird who is looking for love. On his adventure he meets new friends that help him along the way, and he realizes that his friends are a source of love, even though he still hopes to find a true companion in another lovebird. Eventually he finds what he is looking for.
  My daughters (5&10) thought it was a cute book, but definitely meant for younger children. The story didn't flow as nicely as we thought it should, leaving my girls with questions at the holes in the story. This partnered with the bright childlike illustrations makes me believe it would be better suited for younger kids. The story line though, is good for all. We all need friends to help us along the way in our searches, and adventures are always better when we have someone to enjoy the flight with.
• Peck- A little lovebird in a big land is an adorable story about a little lovebird looking for what, you guessed it, love. Peck is lucky enough to have a great friend named Henry who is a bigger bird and helps him fly to a new country. You see, Peck has been down on his luck and hasn't been able to find love in Australia. With the help of Henry, Peck ends up in Africa The first animal Peck comes across is a zebra named Zoltan. Zoltan gives Peck a lift, and a pep talk about love. From there Peck meets many different creatures. He finally comes across some lovebirds but they do not want to chirp with him. Without spoiling the ending, I will say it is a sweet story about love and perseverance. My preschooler seemed to enjoy the story. I would definitely read another story about Peck the lovebird.
• I was drawn to this book from the start. What a beautiful cover it has! My kiddos were excited to read all about Peck, and each one was able to appreciate this book in different ways. My 12 year old liked to see the different interactions the tiny bird had along the way, and how the little lovebird is able to approach everyone in a unique way. My 8 year old daughter loved seeing the world and all its creatures, and how the animals varied from place to place all over the globe. And my 6 year old loved the gorgeous illustrations that illuminate the pages, drawing her in to the story and leading to some great conversations about what she saw. I am excited to read the other books about Peck's adventures, and I am happy to have found another book to add to our gift giving arsenal, too. We loved it!
