Saints for Girls Coloring Book Volume 1 Aleesa McCarthy 9781796558562 Books Reviews
- This is such a cute little coloring book for preschoolers! My daughter loved it so much that she practically colored the whole book in one day (I suggested after a point that she stop and save a few pages for another time!). One of my favorite things about this book is that the author combines popular saints, such as St. Therese, St. Clare, and St. Maria Goretti, with saints that are less well known, like St. Georgia, St. Adelaide, and Blessed Yvette. That led to discussions with my child about who these obscure saints are. Altogether there are twenty featured saints. The author created a basic template which only changes for the saint's clothes/objects they are holding, etc, so all the pictures are the same size with identical faces and the same halo. I think their simplicity is part of what makes them appealing to very young children. The only thing I would have liked to see added would be a few brief lines about the life of each saint. As it is, each page features only the picture and the saint's name below. So if you don't know anything about St. Colette or St. Josephine Bakhita, it will be up to you to find information for your child. But of course that could be a fun project to do together! I'm excited to see what saints the author used in her book for boys!
- I bought these for my girls for their Easter baskets. They are adorable and very well done.
- My girls absolutely love this book. I surprised them with it on a road trip and it kept them very busy! I just love adorable authentically Catholic books for my kids!
